VAN BUREN COUNTY PROPOSAL TO LEVY A MILLAGE TO CONSTRUCT, OPERATE, FURNISH AND EQUIP A JAIL ADDITION AND RENOVATION, A NEW COURT’S CONSOLIDATION FACILITY AND RENOVATION TO THE ADMINISTRATION AND LAND SERVICES BUILDING IN THE COUNTY OF VAN BUREN For the purpose of constructing, operating, furnishing and equipping a jail addition and renovation, a new Court’s Consolidation Facility and renovation to the Administration and Land Services Building for Van Buren County, shall the constitutional limitation upon the total amount of taxes which may be assessed in one (1) year upon all property within the County of Van Buren, Michigan, be increased by up to 0.70 mills ($0.70 per $1,000 of taxable value), for a period of twenty (20) years (2017-2036) inclusive? If approved and levied in full, this millage will raise an estimated $2,030,000.00 in the first calendar year of the levy based on taxable value. If approved and levied, in accordance with State law a portion of the revenue collected may be required to be distributed to the Downtown Development Authorities, Tax Increment Finance Authorities, Local Development Financing Authorities and Brownfield Redevelopment Authorities established in the Cities of South Haven, Bangor, Gobles, Hartford as well as Keeler Township, South Haven Charter Township and the Villages of Lawrence, Lawton, Paw Paw and Mattawan.
LIBRARY MILLAGE PROPOSAL Shall the Charter Township of South Haven, Van Buren County, Michigan, levy a new additional millage of up to 0.25 mill ($0.25 per $1,000 of taxable value) for a period of forty years (2017 through 2056, inclusive), to be disbursed to the South Haven Memorial Library (the Library) for the purpose of providing funds for all library purposes authorized by law, including, but not limited to, the construction of an addition to and renovations of the library building, which levy is estimated to raise $35,950 in the first year of the levy, and shall the Charter Township of South Haven be authorized to levy said tax?
PARK MILLAGE PROPOSAL Shall the Ad Valorem tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Section 6, of the Michigan Constitution be increased by .35 mil ($.35 per $1000 of taxable value) on all real and personal property in Bangor City, Van Buren County, Michigan, for a period of five (5) years commencing in the tax year 2017-2021 inclusive for the purpose of providing funds for park improvement and park maintenance within the City? Said millage will raise in the first year of levy an estimated $9,000. It is anticipated that the revenue collected may be required to be distributed to Downtown Development Authorities, Tax Increment Financing Authorities, Local Development Financing Authorities and Brownfield Redevelopment Authorities established in Bangor City.
LIBRARY MILLAGE PROPOSAL Shall the City of South Haven, Van Buren and Allegan Counties, Michigan, levy a new additional millage of up to 0.25 mill ($0.25 per $1,000 of taxable value) for a period of forty years (2017 through 2056, inclusive), to be disbursed to the South Haven Memorial Library (the Library) for the purpose of providing funds for all library purposes authorized by law, including, but not limited to, the construction of an addition to and renovations of the library building, which levy is estimated to raise $98,126 in the first year of the levy, and shall the City of South Haven be authorized to levy said tax? (To the extent required by law, a portion of the tax levy will be captured by the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority of the City of South Haven.)
