BUCHANAN COMMUNITY SCHOOLS SINKING FUND MILLAGE PROPOSAL Shall the limitation on the amount of taxes which may be assessed against all property in Buchanan Community Schools, Berrien County, Michigan, be increased by and the board of education be authorized to levy not to exceed .8 mill ($0.80 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation) for a period of 8 years, 2017 to 2024, inclusive, to create a sinking fund for the construction or repair of school buildings, for school security improvements, for the acquisition or upgrading of technology and all other purposes authorized by law; the estimate of the revenue the school district will collect if the millage is approved and levied in 2017 is approximately $285,000.00?
TOWNSHIP OF GALIEN MILLAGE PROPOSITION Shall Galien Township, Berrien County, Michigan, impose a new general operating millage of 0.8 mills (8 tenths of one mill), which is equal to 80 cents per $1,000.00 of taxable valuation of real and personal property subject to taxation? Said millage would be an extra-voted millage to provide funds for the general operations of the Township, and if approved by the electors of Galien Township, will be levied for a period of six (6) years, 2017 through 2022, inclusive. Based on current valuation, it is estimated that the levy will generate approximately $37,848 in the first year of the levy.
TOWNSHIP OF NEW BUFFALO PUBLIC SAFETY MILLAGE PROPOSAL Shall the tax limitation on all taxable property within the Township of New Buffalo, Berrien County, Michigan, be increased and the Township be authorized to levy a new additional millage in an amount not to exceed 1.4 mills ($1.40 on each $1,000 of taxable value) for ten (10) years, 2017 to 2026 inclusive, for the purpose of providing funding for any fire, police, ambulance or public safety purpose authorized by law? The estimate of the revenue the Township will collect if the millage is approved and levied in the 2017 calendar year is approximately $799,000. A portion of the revenue collected will be required to be distributed to the New Buffalo Township Corridor Improvement Authority.
