Recall Language: The members of the City Council of Potterville have committed actions which have violated the Charter and which caused the citizens of Potterville to distrust the current City Council and City Manager; because of these deceitful actions, the citizens of Potterville seek recall and replacement of Council member: Rodney Ross Mr. Ross violated the Potterville City Charter [Section 3.05(a)] when he voted to appoint Briant Titus to the City Council. He has taken no steps to rectify that illegal appointment. On 7/15/10 he voted to impose both new and higher service fees on city residents. He took part in the “special” meeting on 8/23/10 to increase water/sewer rates, that was held without adequate notice to the public. He also voted to suspend the “Ethics and Standards of Conduct” ordinance at the 12/16/10 City Council meeting. Further, as Mayor, he has imposed steps that have severely restricted citizen input at public meetings. Justification: Since the only requirement on a recall petition in Eaton County is that it be understandable, but not necessarily truthful or accurate. You should not be surprised that this one is neither truthful nor accurate. The person who wrote this petition knew it was not truthful and yet asked for your signature anyway. Please keep this in mind. You may not always agree with some of my stands but I have not and will not lie to you to get your support.
The members of the City Council of Potterville have committed actions which have violated the Charter and which caused the citizens of Potterville to distrust the City Council and City Manager; because of these deceitful actions, the citizens of Potterville seek recall and replacement of Council member: Briant Titus Mr. Titus was appointed to the City Council in violation of the Potterville City Charter [Section 3.05(a)], and by doing so has voted on matters that have had a detrimental effect on the citizens of Potterville. Mr. Titus was elected in 1/08, resigned in 1/09 and was reappointed in 7/10. On 7/15/10 he voted to impose both new and higher service fees on city residents. He took part in the “special” meeting on 8/23/10, that was held without adequate notice to the public and voted to raise, and virtually triple, the water and sewer rates for Potterville residents. Mr. Titus also voted to suspend the “Ethics and Standards of Conduct” ordinance at the 12/16/10 City Council Meeting. Mr. Titus voted to hire Wanda Darrow without accepting applications from other applicants; with the understanding that Ms. Darrow would drop her unresolved lawsuit against the city. Justification: I was in the general election and lost by two votes was appointed by city council according to the charter, in my opinion am not in any violation of the charter in which I am being recalled for. The alleged illegal appointment was researched by the County and Legal Representative of the City of Potterville was proved and verified that I was not put on council illegally and indeed I am valid council member. Statements for which I am being recalled for is a lie!
Recall Language: The members of the City Council of Potterville have committed actions which have violated the Charter and which caused the citizens of Potterville to distrust the current City Council and City Manager; because of these deceitful actions, the citizens of Potterville seek recall and replacement of Council member: Judith Williams On 7/15/10 Ms. Williams voted to impose both new and higher service fees on city residents. She took part in the “special” meeting on 8/23/10, that was held without adequate notice to the public and voted to raise, and virtually triple, the water and sewer rates for Potterville residents. She also voted to suspend the “Ethics and Standards of Conduct” ordinance at the 12/16/10 City Council meeting. Ms. Williams has also admitted to actively carrying out administrative duties on 11/18/10 during a city council meeting. Justification: As one of the council members that is try to be recalled I would like to say a few things. I have been on council for ten months and in that time I have had to make some decisions that have been hard to do, but I feel that they were made for the best of the city. Some of the things I have been working on were started with past council members before I took office. I feel if I could finish my term in office that I could help rebuild the trust between citizens, council and the administrative staff. I fully support the Police, Fire, and EMS and will do my best to keep all of the services in Potterville. I will try to be part of the solution to fix some of the problems. Thank you for your support.
