MILLAGE RENEWAL PROPOSITION FOR SERVICES TO OLDER CITIZENS Shall there be approved a renewal of up to a .9092 mill levy, [Ninety and ninety-two one hundredths (90.92) cents per thousand ($1,000) dollars] in taxable value of real and personal property in Cass County over and above the fifteen (15) mill constitutional limitation on real and tangible personal property, for a period of four (4) years, commencing December 1, 2009, to be used for services to older citizens directed toward the improvement of the social, legal, health, housing, educational, emotional, nutritional, recreational or mobility status of older persons through the Cass County Council on Aging, Inc. as provided by Public Act 39 of 1976? It is anticipated that the revenue collected by the County as a result of this proposal will be One Million, Five Hundred Six Thousand, Four Hundred Twenty-One dollars ($1,506,421) in the first calendar year of the levy.
RENEWAL - DRUG ENFORCEMENT MILLAGE In support of law enforcement, criminal justice and public safety for the citizens of Cass County, including the areas of drug enforcement, prosecution, education and treatment; shall there be approved a renewal of up to a .4805 levy [Forty-eight and five one-hundredths (48.05) cents per thousand ($1,000) dollars] which may be assessed against the taxable value of real and personal property in Cass County for a period of four (4) years, being 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. It is estimated that the revenue collected as a result of this renewal in the first year will be $796,124.
HUDSON MEMORIAL BUILDING MILLAGE RENEWAL PROPOSITION Shall the limitation of the total amount of taxes which may be assessed against all property in the Township of Marcellus, Cass County, Michigan, be increased (such being a renewal of the 1/2 mill approved at the election of November 2, 2004, to expire with the 2008 tax levy) by one-half (1/2) mill on each dollar (50 cents on each $1000.00) of the assessed taxable valuation, as equalized, for a period of four (4) years, 2008 to 2012, inclusive? The purpose of this millage is to provide funds for the maintenance and operation of the Hudson Memorial Building, a Community Center. This levy will raise in the first calendar year an estimated $31,593.35.
ONTWA TOWNSHIP/EDWARDSBURG POLICE DEPARTMENT MILLAGE RENEWAL PROPOSITION Shall the limitation on the total amount of taxes which may be assessed against all real and tangible personal property in the Township of Ontwa, County of Cass, Michigan be increased by two (2) mills on each dollar ($1.00 on each $1,000.00 of the State Equalized valuation on such property) for a period of four (4) years, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 inclusive, such increase being a renewal of the millage (expired in 2007) and providing funds for the maintenance and operation of the Ontwa Township/Edwardsburg Police Department? The total estimate amount of revenue to be generated for the 2008 calendar year will be $427,392.000
SPECIAL MILLAGE PROPOSITION FOR ONTWA TOWNSHIP/EDWARDSBURG POLICE DEPARTMENT Shall the limitation on the total amount of taxes which may be levied each year upon all property in the Township of Ontwa, County of Cass, Michigan be increased by one (1) mill each year upon all property in the Township of Ontwa, Cass County, Michigan be increased in an amount of not to exceed one (1) mill ($1.00) on each $1,000.00 of the State Equalized Valuation on such property for a period of four (4) years, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 inclusive, for the purpose of providing funds for the maintenance and operation of the Ontwa Township/Edwardsburg Police Department? The total estimated valuation of revenue to be generated for the 2008 calendar year will be $213,696.00.
FIRE & AMBULANCE SERVICES MILLAGE RENEWAL PROPOSITION Shall the constitutional limitation on the total amount of taxes which may be levied each year upon all property in the Township of Ontwa, Cass County, Michigan be increased in an amount of not to exceed two (2) mills ($2.00) per $1,000.00 of taxable valuation in the Township for a period of four (4) years, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 inclusive, such increase being a renewal of the millage approved at an election held on August 3, 2004, with one (1) mill of said two (2) mills being allocated to the purpose of providing fire services, included, but not limited to the maintenance and operation of the Edwardsburg Fire Department, and the purchase & housing of fire apparatus & equipment, and with one (1) mill being allocated to the Edwardsburg Ambulance Services, included, but not limited to the maintenance and operation of the ambulance department and to the purchase & housing of ambulances & ambulance apparatus and equipment; and shall the township levy and collect a tax on all property in the township in said amount, for said period of time and for said purposes, which increase in millage will raise in the first year of such levy an estimated $427,392.00 or $213,696.00 for each of said services?
Shall the expired previous voted increases in the tax limitations imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution in Volinia Township of 1 mill ($1 per $1000 of taxable value) reduced to 0.9437 mills by the required millage rollbacks, be increased to and renewed at the original voted 1 mill ($1 per $1000 of taxable value) and levied for four years, 2008 through 2011 inclusive, for fire and ambulance protection, raising an estimated $37,000 in the first year millage is levied.
