Summary

SPECIAL EDUCATION MILLAGE PROPOSAL

This proposal will increase the levy by the intermediate school district of special education millage previously approved by the electors. All or a portion of the revenues will be distributed to local school districts in the intermediate school district to reimburse costs for special education programs and services.

Shall the original millage limitation on the annual property tax previously approved by the electors of Kent Intermediate School District, Michigan, which has been reduced by the "Headlee" amendment, Michigan Constitution of 1963, to 2.7099 mills ($2.7099 of each $1,000.00 of taxable valuation) for the education of persons with disabilities be increased by 1 mill ($1.00 on each $1,000.00 of taxable valuation), without limitation as to number of years, commencing in 2004: the estimate of the revenue the intermediate school district will collect if the millage is approved and levied in 2004 is approximately $17,650,000 from local property taxes authorized herein?
